Hammered was created by students for students. Originally founded in 2002 by then-student Ken Procaccianti, Hammered set out to redefine a word and a generation. Ken entered Northeastern University as a member of the men’s soccer team. When an injury led him to leave the team during his second year, Ken was struck by the lack of choices on campus for students that did not want to booze it up every night.

Rather than preach to students about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs, Ken envisioned a group that would tackle the issue in a completely new way. Hammered was born to demonstrate that you can live one night of your weekend, your whole life or anytime in between without alcohol and other drugs.

At Northeastern, Hammered showcased that entertainment, fun, and having a good time did not require drugs and alcohol. The Wimpy Body Contest. Talks from Henry Rollins, KRS-ONE & Bruce Campbell. And, of course, Do Stuff Thursdays. With its unique humor and fun approach, Hammered displayed the many ways to have a good time without relying on alcohol and other drugs.

The Hammered model took off and others took notice. Hammered has been featured in publications such as the Chronicle of Higher Education and venues like the National Young Leaders Conference.

Now, Hammered.org has been re-launched in 2008 to rejuvenate its message and start chapters at schools around the globe. Get involved today. Start a Hammered chapter on your campus. Or, join an existing chapter.
