For Me to Poop On

Admit it, ever since Beaker, you’ve had a special place in your heart for puppets.  Now that you’re grown up, sorta, the Puppet Slam provides a socially acceptable way for adults to enjoy puppets.

Although normally focused on kids’ shows, the theatre periodically hosts the comedic, poignant and sometimes political Puppet Slam, featuring of course, puppets.  In the words of one esteemed puppet, sounds like a great show…for me to poop on!  No, really, it sounds like fun.

Gladly Pay You Tuesday

At the Boston Food Swap, be weary of any attendees that look like Wimpy because “Tuesday” never comes.  Instead, make free tasty trades with other foodies for baked goods, infused oils, pickled veggies or anything else homemade.

Prepare your goodies in ready-to-swap sizes and packaging and swap away.

Photo Crawl

If you didn’t take our advice a couple weeks ago, here are two more chances for a much-needed day off from trolling photos on your favorite publicly-traded social networking site.  Get out and take pictures of the real world at the Misterifotos and/or the Hub Crawl Photo Scavenger Hunts.

At Misterifotos, the group responsible for such classics as pillow fight day and no pants subway ride, kicks things off at 11am in Boston Common, but you can participate anytime throughout the day/night because they will release the list of tasks in advance on their faceyspace page.

At the Hub Crawl, you’ll be tasked with capturing photos and solving puzzles around the city.  Registration starts at 11:45am at their designated rally point.

Music without the Sticky Floor

If you’re looking for good live music minus the sticky bar room floor, you have some cool options this weekend.

Somerville’s PorchFest is like an open studios for musicians.  The venue is the porches around Somerville, from which musicians will serenade passerby with all kinds of music.  Slow your roll and enjoy.

And, Red Room @ 939 Cafe hosts a trio of local talent presented by music blog Ryan’s Smashing Life (Fri) and a torture-chamber pop band Jaggery (Sat).
